A pair of all-conference
performers in the Mid-Suburban League have moved on to collegiate
careers, but the Prospect Knights have nice core talent returning
to the program after a (21-8) season that brought the team their
first regional championship in seven seasons.
All-Conference players
Kevin Reed (6'7") and Jason Leblebijian (6'2") have
graduated. Reed is now playing basketball at Illinois Wesleyan,
while Leblebijian is playing baseball at Bradley. Prospect does
return one all-conference player, Joe LaTulip (5'10" Sr.
Point Guard). He was an all-area and all-conference performer
in 2008-09.
Other starters returning
for the Knights will be, Jack Redding (6'2" Sr. Guard) and
Nsenzi Salasini (6'3" Sr. Forward). Newcomers to the varsity
program will be, Grant DePalma (5'10" Jr. Guard) and Mike
LaTulip (5'11" So. Guard). The Knights went through the Mid-Suburban
League unblemished last year (10-0) in East division play, and
aim for another division championship. "Compete again for
the division title, and continue to progress as a program,"
coach John Camardella stated on this season's outlook.
Buffalo Grove and Rolling
Meadows finished behind Prospect in the MSL East last season.
"It should be a very competitive year in the MSL East."
Other teams in the league are (Arlington Heights) Hersey, Wheeling,
and Elk Grove.
Camardella has coached
the Knights the past two seasons. The team went (17-11) in his
first year, and followed that up with a (21-8) season last year
and a regional title.
Prospect has won just
one sectional championship in its program's history. That title
came in (1990-91) under longtime head coach Glen Elms. Elms coached
at the school for 14 seasons, compiling a (166-181) record. In
total, Prospect has won nine regional championships.
