The Blazers lose an
All-Conference player in Ian Horvath (Knox College), but return
a bulk of key players from last season's squad (6-20). "Have
improved win total (both overall and conference) during the last
two seasons," head coach Brendan Lyons said.
"Higher expectations
with a large number of returners coming back." A number of
three-year varsity players are among those returning. Alex Dimaris
(6'5" Sr. Power Forward), Costa Diamond (5'9" Sr. Point
Guard), Tyler Ramir (5'10" Sr. Shooting Guard), and Tyler
Horvath (6'2" Jr. Shooting Guard) are all in their third
seasons at the varsity level.
That experience will
help the Blazers, who will also get contributions from a number
of returning varsity players. Jaleo Gibbs (5'10" Sr. Point
Guard), Peter Spear (6'3" Sr. Small Forward), Danny Mijares
(6'2" Sr. Small Forward), and Kevin Babica (6'1" Sr.
Shooting Guard) will also contribute for Addison Trail.
The team has a strong
schedule which the Blazers hope will give them a good test in
the postseason and in the second half of the season. "Challenging
non-conference schedule and very competitive conference schedule
ahead of us. We hope to take that next step in our program and
challenge teams night in and night out."
Addison Trail compete
in the Gold Division of the West Suburban Conference. "Top
teams: Downers Grove South, Proviso East, Hinsdale South, Leyden,
Morton," Lyons stated on the conference outlook for (2009-10).
Brendan Lyons has coached
the Blazers the last two years. He has guided the team to records
of (5-21 & 6-20) in those two seasons.
The Blazers program
is really looking to turn things around. Addison Trail has a (21-129)
record since (2003-04). The last postseason title for the Blazers
came in (1979-80). The school also won a regional championship
in (1974-75).
