Belleville West Off-Season Workouts (May 2013)

2013 Preview
Division 1 FBS recruit Tori Millender returns to lead the defense, and a trio of all-conference skill players will lead the Maroons offensive attack. The 2013 season outlook is bright at Belleville West. "We are looking forward to competition," coach Cameron Pettus said. The Maroons qualified for the IHSA Class 7A Playoffs in 2012, and finished fourth in a very strong strong Southwestern Conference.

Perennial favorite East St. Louis went undefeated in league play (7-0) last season. The Flyers will likely be near the top of the standings again in 2013. "East St. Louis number one," Pettus said about the conference outlook. Edwardsville and O'Fallon took second and third, respectively.

All-conference quarterback Sherand Boyd returns to lead the offense. The dangerous signal caller passed for more than 800 yards and added nearly 300 yards of rushing to his stat line. Behind Boyd are all-conference running backs Antoine Davis and Brian Hill. The pair combined for almost 1,200 yards rushing.

"We are excited about the upcoming season," Pettus said.
